Assam: Newborn Tiger Cubs Bring Cheer to Kaziranga National Park
Guwahati, Assam – Jubilation has swept through the wildlife community following the heartwarming news of two tiger cubs being spotted within the sprawling expanse of Kaziranga National Park. Park officials confirmed the delightful development, noting the significance of this sighting for the tiger population in the region.
The precious duo was first observed by vigilant forest guards in the recently added 10th Addition area of the renowned national park. Their presence was subsequently corroborated through compelling images captured by strategically placed camera traps earlier this week, further solidifying the exciting discovery.
Intriguingly, while the presence of the adorable cubs has been confirmed, the camera traps did not capture any images of their mother. Park authorities are continuing their monitoring efforts to hopefully identify the tigress and ensure the well-being of the new family members.
The 10th Addition, encompassing a significant 4.52 square kilometers, falls under the jurisdiction of the Biswanath Wildlife Division, further expanding the protected habitat within the greater Kaziranga landscape.
This recent addition to the tiger family brings renewed optimism for the conservation efforts within the UNESCO World Heritage site, which currently boasts an estimated tiger population of around 150 individuals. The arrival of these cubs underscores the park’s vital role in safeguarding this majestic species.
