Darjeeling– In an exciting announcement, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has revealed the operation of four special Diesel-powered Joyrides under the iconic toy train service of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR). Scheduled to run daily from October 21 to December 5, 2024, these joyrides aim to accommodate the anticipated surge in tourist traffic during the peak season.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the DHR is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and attracts thousands of local and international visitors each year. The special joyrides will enhance the travel experience, allowing passengers to relish the stunning landscapes of the Himalayan hills while journeying between Darjeeling and Ghum.
Each train will be fitted with three first-class chair car coaches, providing a total of 89 seats—30 seats in two coaches and 29 in one coach—ensuring a comfortable and memorable ride for all passengers.
