Assam: Northeast’s First train to Ram Nagri Ayodhya flagged off from Ledo RS

Guwahati, 6th February: The first-ever train journey from the Northeastern states to the holy city of Ayodhya commenced with great fervor, as the inaugural ceremony unfolded at the Ledo Railway Station. Santanu Pujari, an executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state committee and co-head of the Astha train, flagged off the special train on February 6.

Facilitated under the “Astha” scheme by the Government of India, the special train aims to enable pilgrims to visit the sacred Ram temple in Ayodhya, following the inauguration of the Lord Ram idol on January 22. With over three hundred devotees from the 83rd constituency of Margherita, Tinsukia district, the journey symbolizes enhanced connectivity and spiritual unity for the Northeastern region.

The flag-off ceremony witnessed the presence of political figures like BJP Town Mandal President Dhiraj Sonowal, Bhavesh Dutta, and Sanjit Gogoi, alongside notable officials including Tinsukia Railway Mandalik Officer and DRM Uttam Prakash, underscoring the significance of this historic journey.
