Assam: Notorious Criminal Ronesh Daimari Shot During Attempted Arrest in Jalukbari

Guwahati: In a dramatic turn of events late Tuesday night, notorious criminal Ronesh Daimari sustained bullet injuries following police action in Guwahati’s Jalukbari area. The incident unfolded as a team from Dispur Police attempted to apprehend Daimari in connection with a recent crime.

The operation was launched after Daimari allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman earlier that evening in the Sundarpur locality. Law enforcement sources indicate that during the attempted arrest, Daimari tried to flee and reportedly resisted the police, leading to the use of firearms. The confrontation resulted in Daimari sustaining injuries, and he was promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention.

Following the incident, officials confirmed the recovery of a pistol from the scene, which is believed to have been in Daimari’s possession at the time of the alleged chain snatching. Police sources have painted a picture of Daimari as a deeply entrenched criminal with an extensive and alarming history of offenses.

According to police records, a staggering number of over 100 cases are registered against Daimari across various police stations in Assam. These cases encompass a wide spectrum of criminal activities, ranging from petty thefts and robberies to more serious offenses such as car thefts and abductions.

Daimari’s recent brush with the law saw him arrested in December in connection with 24 separate criminal cases. He had only been out on bail for a mere ten days before allegedly returning to his criminal pursuits, culminating in the attempted arrest in Jalukbari.

This recent shooting is not an isolated incident involving Daimari and law enforcement. He had previously been injured in a similar encounter near 13 Mile in Jorabat while attempting to escape police custody, highlighting his history of resisting arrest.

Further investigations have revealed potential links between Daimari’s criminal activities and organized gangs operating across Assam. Authorities have established his close association with another notorious criminal, Boga, a most-wanted car thief who was recently killed in a police encounter.

Police disclosed that the connection between Daimari and Boga extended beyond mere criminal association, revealing a familial bond between the two. They are believed to have collaborated in several significant criminal activities in recent years, indicating a deeper level of involvement in organized crime within the state.
