Assam: Oil India Pipeline Leak Sparks Blaze in Gossaigaon, Major Disaster Averted

Gossaigaon, Assam: A significant fire broke out on June 1, in the Babubil area of Gossaigaon, reportedly due to a leak in an Oil India pipeline. The sudden blaze rapidly intensified, plunging the entire region into chaos. Fortunately, a potentially catastrophic disaster was narrowly averted thanks to the swift response of emergency services.

Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and worked efficiently to bring the inferno under control. Officials and employees from Oil India also arrived to assess the situation and manage the aftermath. While the immediate danger has passed, the incident has raised serious questions about pipeline safety and community concerns.

Local residents have voiced strong grievances, claiming they had detected a distinct smell of petrol in the area for two days prior to the fire. They allege that they had informed the village head in Bongaigaon about their concerns, but their warnings were not taken seriously. This incident underscores the critical need for prompt attention to public alerts and robust preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
