Guwahati: A total of 66 additional high-ranking official positions have been added to the Assam police department on Sunday which is a significant addition.
The Crime Investigation Department (CID) now has an Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Assistant IGP “Kriya” is another new position in the police department. The CID has also introduced 12 new Superintendent of Police (SP) positions. A total of four new SP roles have been added to the CID as well.
The Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offenses (BIEO) has added two new additional Superintendent positions. Earlier, Two SPs were already present in the BIEO.
Meanwhile, two more SPs have been added to the BIEO.
On the other hand, two Superintendent level posts and two Additional SP posts have been added in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau which had two posts earlier.
Aside from that, the Guwahati police force has added three more DCP positions. They are DCP (intelligence), DCP (protocol), and DCP (ERSS).
A new Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) position will be added to each district under a new rule. Additional SP is the title of the new position (crime branch).
In addition, the crime branch now has a new Assistant Commissioner of Police position. The officer-in-charge of the criminal branch police station will be the ACP.
The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) will gain an ASP level position.
