Assam Olympic Association Organizes Signature Campaign to Support Lovlina Borgohain

Guwahati, July 25, 2024: The Assam Olympic Association (AOA) organized a special signature campaign on Thursday to wish ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain good luck as she competes in the forthcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.

Scores of people signed a flex wall to send their best wishes to Borgohain, who previously won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Assam Minister for Water Resources Pijush Hazarika, Arjuna Awardee table tennis player Monalisa Barooah Mehta, AOA General Secretary Lakhya Konwar, Boxing Federation of India’s Secretary General Hemanta Kalita, and various other dignitaries, sportspersons, and support staff.

Minister Hazarika expressed pride in Borgohain’s achievements, highlighting her journey from a remote village in Golaghat to the global stage. “It is a moment of great pride for all in Assam that a girl from a remote village in Golaghat has been able to compete on the world stage and win an Olympic Medal for India,” he said.

Hazarika extended his best wishes to Borgohain, expressing confidence in her ability to secure a medal for the country in Paris. He emphasized the importance of standing by athletes and supporting them regardless of the outcome, stating, “We must stand with our athletes and support them in every way possible.”
