Assam: One Dead, Four Injured in Tragic Road Accident in Dibrugarh

Assam: A tragic road accident occurred near Lahowal in Dibrugarh district on the Dibrugarh-Duliajan, Joypur, and Naharkatia road late last night. A vehicle with the registration number AS06AK 8716 veered off the bridge and plunged into a nearby river.

One person, identified as Ishan Gogoi, succumbed to his injuries, while four others sustained critical injuries. The injured, Akhiraj Gogoi (28), Tridip Gogoi (30), Latu Gogoi (26), and Biplab Gogoi (28), were promptly rescued and rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital for immediate medical attention.

The victims, all residents of Tamulikhat in Tengakhat, were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony. They had dropped off the bride at Bakul Majgaon in Dibrugarh and were on their way back when the unfortunate incident took place.

The accident is believed to have occurred due to dense fog that severely impaired visibility, leading the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Ishan Gogoi’s body was recovered from the submerged vehicle by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) but was declared brought dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and prayers are being offered for the speedy recovery of the injured.
