Assam: One Injured In Firing Incident In Indo-Bhutan border
Guwahati: In a sensational incident, a person has been injured in a firing incident in Chirang district of Assam on Saturday.
The incident occurred at the Khungring area of the Indo-Bhutan border.
According to reports, the firing incident took place wherein forest personnel suspecting smugglers open fire at a person.
The victim identified has been as Binamin Basumatary.
Notably, the victim was shot while out fishing near the border.
According to the Chirang District Forest Division Officer (DFO), the injured have been taken to Chirang’s Kajalgaon Civil Hospital.
According to Chirang DFO, “We approached a group of suspects after getting information, and to contain the situation the forest rangers made a blank fire which ultimately hit the injured individual.”
Meanwhile, a probe has been launched and the district police have started an inquiry.
