Guwahati: A suspected dacoit was injured in police firing while trying to flee from the custody in Cachar district of Assam on Sunday.
The dacoit has been identified as Hussain Ahmed Laksar, a resident of Dhonehari Part II of the district.
According to reports, Laksar was arrested on Friday night in connection with multiple robbery cases.
During interrogation, he divulged the location where concealed illicit were kept. A police team took him to the spot. After reaching there, Laksar tried to attack the policemen in order to escape. Police opened fire on his leg in retaliation.
It may be noted that two other police personnel were also injured.
Meanwhile, the police officials also recovered a pistol from him.
It may be mentioned that the suspect sustained leg injuries. He is currently receiving treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
