Assam: One more paper mill employ dies, death toll rises to 101
Guwahati: One more employee of the Cachar paper Mill died in Hailakandi taking the death toll of the mill workers of the two Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Assam to 101.
The deceased was identified as Bazlul Hakim Laskar, a 63-year-old technician at Cachar Paper Mill who had been suffering from long-term diabetes and kidney problems.
However, due to his financial difficulties, he was unable to obtain the care he required.
It may be mentioned that another mill employee, Manindra Chandra Das aged 56 was died of a massive heart attack earlier this month.
Since October 2015 and March 2017, the Cachar Paper Mill in Panchgram, Hailakandi district, and the Nagaon Paper Mill in Jagiroad, Morigaon district, have both been closed.
