Assam: Opposition Walks Out of State Assembly Over New Pension Scheme

Guwahati, 26th February: On the final day of the state Budget Session, the Opposition staged a walkout from the State Assembly in protest against the government’s New Pension Scheme (NPS).

Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s response regarding the NPS policy, the Opposition criticized the BJP government, highlighting that the NPS now covers not only venture school teachers but also all APSC officers, state police, and state government employees.

Holding placards demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, the Opposition members walked out of the assembly today, emphasizing their stance against the implementation of the NPS.
