Assam: Over 1,100 New Members Join UPPL in Major Event at Bonorgaon in Kokrajhar

Guwahati, 5th October – In a significant political development, over 1,100 individuals officially joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) during a large-scale joining program held on Saturday at *Bonorgaon, Kokrajhar. Organized by the UPPL’s Bonorgaon Block Committee, the event saw *1,174 new members from various groups embrace the party, highlighting its growing influence in the region.

The event was presided over by Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member and UPPL party president *Promod Boro, along with several prominent UPPL leaders. Welcoming the new members, Boro expressed confidence in the party’s expanding base, predicting a surge in UPPL’s popularity across the *Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) constituencies.

In his remarks, Boro took aim at the *Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), accusing the party of misleading the public, which he claims has driven many people towards the UPPL. He forecasted that UPPL’s support could rise to *60-70% in the BTC’s 40 constituencies in the coming months.

Boro also touched upon the recent recognition of the Assamese language as a *Classical Language of India, extending his congratulations to scholars and researchers who made this possible. He expressed hope that similar efforts would be made for the *Bodo language, encouraging initiatives to preserve and promote it for future generations.

The joining program not only bolstered the UPPL’s strength but also resonated with pride over the recognition of the Assamese language, symbolizing a key moment in Assam’s political and linguistic evolution.
