Assam: Phanibhusan Chowdhury’s Ambiguous Stance on Koch Rajbongshi Tribe Draws Attention in Barpeta Lok Sabha Campaign
Guwahati, 26th March: Phanibhusan Chowdhury, the candidate representing the AGP-BJP alliance in the ongoing campaign for the No. 3 Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency, has drawn attention for his ambiguous stance regarding the tribes of the Koch Rajbongshi community.
Chowdhury recently attended the Daul Festival at Kathalbari in Nalbari, engaging with the public and addressing reporters. During the interaction, he expressed uncertainty about his ability to influence the granting of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, stating, “I am not the Prime Minister, how will I do ST.” Nonetheless, Chowdhury conveyed his support for the Koch Rajbongshi community’s quest for ST status.
Asserting confidence in his candidacy, Chowdhury claimed to have no formidable opponents in Barpeta, expressing optimism about the prospect of the NDA forming the government once again.
In a direct speech byte, Chowdhury emphasized the discernment of modern voters, stating, “Nowadays, the voters are very experienced and do not vote for an independent candidate for any reason.”
