The arrest, which took place on April 19th, marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to counter insurgency in the region.

The operation was a joint effort by the Basistha police and the Gajraj Intelligence unit, culminating in the capture of the suspect, identified as Mayanglambam Bobby Singh. Singh, a 31-year-old hailing from the Kakching district of Manipur, was discovered hiding within a hotel located in the bustling Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati. Initial investigations suggest that prior to his apprehension, Singh had been residing at another hotel in the Beharbari locality.

The details of the arrest were shared with the media today, April 20th, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Mrinal Deka. He stated that the arrested individual has a history of active involvement in numerous armed operations perpetrated by the PLA in Manipur. The possibility of additional arrests in connection with this case has not been ruled out as law enforcement agencies continue to pursue all leads to dismantle the network of insurgent activities.
