Assam: PM Narendra Modi commends tea garden community, encourages tourism
Guwahati, 9th March: In a heartfelt tribute to Assam’s tea garden community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the state’s rich cultural heritage and economic prowess on March 9. Recognizing the global significance of Assam’s renowned tea industry, Prime Minister Modi highlighted its role in shaping international trade and commerce.
Acknowledging the tireless efforts of the tea garden community, Prime Minister Modi commended their dedication and hard work, which has not only elevated Assam’s prestige but has also left an indelible mark on the global tea market.
Expressing admiration for the picturesque tea gardens, Prime Minister Modi extended a warm invitation to tourists to explore these scenic locales during their visits to the state.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi initiated a series of transformative projects worth Rs 18,000 crore from Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat, signaling the government’s steadfast commitment to driving growth and prosperity in the region. From healthcare infrastructure to energy sustainability, these projects promise monumental advancements for Assam’s development.
Among the key projects inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi were the Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital, the Barauni to Guwahati natural gas pipeline, and the Digboi Refinery expansion projects. Additionally, the Prime Minister unveiled the ‘Statue of Valour’ in memory of the legendary Ahom General Lachit Borphukan, paying homage to his heroic legacy at Lachit Maidam in Jorhat district.
