Assam: PM Narendra Modi lays foundation for redeveloping 11 railway stations
Guwahati, 26th February: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned the construction of six roads over bridges/underpasses and laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 11 railway stations in Assam, marking a historic day for the state’s infrastructure development.
In a social media post, PM Modi announced the dedication of 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth over Rs. 41,000 crores to the nation. He emphasized the importance of enhancing the travel experience and announced the redevelopment of 553 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including Haibargaon, Udalguri, Silapathar, and Viswanath stations in Assam.
These stations will feature walls and interiors inspired by regional art and culture, along with modern amenities catering to divyangjan-friendly facilities and green buildings for a sustainable future.
The infrastructure projects aim to alleviate congestion, improve safety and accessibility, and enhance the capacity and efficiency of rail travel, benefiting the people of Assam and beyond.
Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated the Gurugram railway station redevelopment project worth Rs. 295 crores, featuring segregated arrival and departure facilities, modern passenger amenities, food courts, and ample parking space.
In Uttar Pradesh, he inaugurated the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station, boasting modern amenities like air concourses, congestion-free circulation, and integrated arrival and departure facilities to accommodate increased passenger footfall and enhance connectivity within the city.
