Guwahati, 3rd May: In Jamugurihat, Sonitpur district, a poacher named Hanif Ali was detained with a rhino horn in Bharalichapri. The arrest, a result of a collaborative effort between Jamuguri police, the forest department, and village guards, marks a significant breakthrough in combating illegal poaching activities endangering wildlife in the area.
Hanif Ali, currently in custody under the forest department’s supervision, was apprehended during the joint operation. However, two other poachers accompanying him managed to evade capture and flee the scene.
In response, authorities are escalating their search efforts, with both the police and the forest department intensifying operations to locate the two absconding poachers.
