Assam: POCSO Convict Escapes from Kokrajhar District Jail, Investigation Underway

Kokrajhar – A prisoner convicted under the POCSO Act has escaped from Kokrajhar District Jail. The escaped inmate, identified as Hazrat Ali, is a resident of No. 1 Daukhanagar in Chirang district.

The jailbreak occurred on March 16, when Hazrat Ali exploited a security loophole during a cleaning operation inside the jail colony, allowing him to flee from custody.

Hazrat Ali had been serving a life sentence under the POCSO Act, making his escape a serious matter of concern for authorities.

In response to the incident, Kokrajhar District Jail Superintendent Rabiram Intik has been suspended. Authorities have launched an investigation into the security breach, and efforts to recapture the fugitive are currently underway.
