Assam Police Apprehends Alleged Attacker of Elderly Couple from West Bengal
Guwahati, 1st December: Assam Police has successfully apprehended the alleged attacker of the elderly couple in Kokrajhar from neighbouring West Bengal. The accused, identified as Shambhu Kahar, was arrested in Cooch Behar by a police team from Kokrajhar.
The attack occurred on November 29 at the residence of the elderly couple in Kokrajhar’s Bidhanpalli area. The victims, 70-year-old Tapan Chakraborty and his 65-year-old wife, Madhumita Chakraborty, were assaulted with sharp weapons.
While Tapan Chakraborty succumbed to his injuries, Madhumita Chakraborty continues to undergo treatment.
The police suspect the incident to be a case of attempted robbery. The accused, Shambhu Kahar, has been brought to Kokrajhar and produced before a local court.
