Assam Police Arrest Four in Major Cyber Fraud Crackdown in Morigaon
Morigaon, 21st September: In a significant operation against cyber crime, Assam Police arrested four individuals in Morigaon on September 20. The arrests were made following an operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samiran Baishya, targeting cyber fraud activities in the district.
The arrested suspects, identified as Requib Uddin, Ennaruddin, Inzamamul Islam, and Ishaful Alam, are believed to be part of a larger cybercrime network. A formal case has been registered at the Moirabari police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 120(B), 419, 420, 406, 467, 468, 471, and 34, along with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.
The efforts of ASP Baishya have led to the apprehension of around 222 cyber criminals across Morigaon district. Authorities have also recovered over Rs 20 crore, which had been fraudulently siphoned from several financial institutions, marking a major success in the ongoing crackdown on cyber fraud.
