Assam Police Arrest Individual with 20,000 Yaba Tablets in Dengarbond as Anti-Narcotics Operations Intensify

Guwahati, 18th August: In a significant breakthrough, Assam Police arrested an individual found in possession of 20,000 Yaba tablets during an anti-narcotics operation in Dengarbond, Karimganj, on August 17. Acting on specific intelligence, the police carried out the operation as part of their ongoing drive to achieve a drug-free Assam.

The arrested individual has been placed in police custody as investigations continue into the origins and intended destination of the narcotics. This arrest comes in the wake of another major operation on the eve of Independence Day, where authorities seized Yaba tablets worth approximately Rs 1 crore near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Karimganj.

That earlier operation, conducted with input from the 16th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), took place near the Chandshreekona Border Outpost (BOP). During the raid, authorities intercepted a passerby near the barbed wire fence, recovering 10,000 Yaba tablets from the adjacent area.

These back-to-back operations underscore the Assam Police’s commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in the region and curbing the spread of narcotics across the state.
