Assam Police Arrested Five Suspected Adivasi People Liberation Army Cadres

Guwahati: Assam Police arrested two people in the Maibong area of Assam on suspicion that they were members of the Adivasi People Liberation Army (APLA), an extremist group.

DimaHasao police arrested Bimal Khol (27) and Karan Lohar (26), after acting on specific information. They were living in the Maibang area of the Dima Hasao district.

According to reports, the two people who were arrested are both Maibong residents.

After questioning the people who had been arrested, the police further nabbed Nipesh Rikiason (age 25), Joydeep Bhumij (20) and Biju Karmakar (26) in the Harangajao area.

All of the people who were arrested are still in police custody.

An FIR has been filed against the arrested individuals under case number 11/23 Maibong PS.

Moreover, Bimal Khol works for the Maibong Town Committee as a driver. He is suspected of having recruited members of the group by appealing to and persuading indigenous adolescents to join APLA. The police suspects that the APLA camp may be in Dimapur.
