Assam Police ASI Arrested for Offering Bribe

Guwahati: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from Nagaon Police Reserve has been arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe Nagaon Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at his office on Thursday.

The arrested ASI has been identified as Abdul Mutalib.

According to police reports, Mutalib attempted to bribe DSP Tridip Kumbang at the Superintendent of Police’s office by giving him Rs 10,000 in exchange for a post in one of his preferred outposts.

ASI Mutalib was arrested by Tridip Kumbang for the unlawful gratification. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).

While addressing to media, Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP), Leena Doley said, “ASI Abdul Matlib has been arrested by DSP Tridip Kumbang for attempting to offer him Rs 10,000 for a post at any outpost of his choice. We will prosecute anyone found guilty of a crime, whether an officer on duty or a regular citizen.”
