Assam: Police Bust Battery Theft Ring, One Arrested
Guwahati: In a significant breakthrough, a joint operation by Gauripur Police, in close coordination with Rupshi Out Post Police from Kokrajhar and airport authorities, successfully recovered 21 stolen batteries today. The raid, conducted at a shop named “New Battery House” in Gauripur, followed a confidential tip-off.
The seized batteries, specifically identified as *Amaron Quanta 42AH, 12V units, are believed to have been pilfered from Rupsi Airport near Dhubri, Assam, just days prior to the operation. Police sources indicate that the theft was likely a planned act.
During the swift operation, Azibar Ali Sheikh was apprehended and has been transferred to Kazigaon Police Station in Kokrajhar for further interrogation. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify any other individuals involved.
