Assam: Police Bust Drug Trafficking Ring in Gohpur; Three Arrested and Narcotics Seized

Guwahati, 2nd May: Gohpur police have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking operation with the apprehension of two individuals, Mridul Deori and Sagar Subba, during a raid conducted in Kokila Baligaon. The suspects were allegedly caught in the act of distributing drugs, leading to the seizure of 14 drug containers from each individual.

Following interrogation, Deori and Subba confessed to their involvement in the illicit drug trade, providing crucial information that led to the arrest of another alleged smuggler, Gajen Saikia, from Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district. Saikia was taken into custody, and additional quantities of drugs were confiscated from his possession.

The arrests come amidst growing concerns over the escalation of drug trafficking activities along the Assam-Arunachal border in Gohpur. Authorities have noted a disturbing trend of increased drug circulation in the region, raising alarms about its impact on local communities and public safety.

In response to the situation, law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to crack down on criminal networks involved in narcotics smuggling. The apprehension of Deori, Subba, and Saikia marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the area.
