Assam Police Busts Fake Call Center in Kokrajhar Targeting Job Seekers

Guwahati, 24th September: In a significant operation, Assam Police dismantled a fraudulent call center in the Subhashpalli area of Kokrajhar, which was deceiving job seekers through bogus job advertisements. This call center was part of an extensive scam that exploited vulnerable individuals in search of employment.

The perpetrators posted fake job listings, claiming to offer positions at reputable companies like Tata Motors, and charged unsuspecting job seekers fees under the pretense of securing employment.

Originating from Uttar Pradesh, the fraudsters rented a house in Kokrajhar to operate their call center and even employed four local women to assist in their deceitful operations.

Following a tip-off, police conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of two fraudsters from Uttar Pradesh, while the four local women were detained for further questioning. The authorities confiscated ten mobile phones and numerous incriminating documents, revealing the extensive nature of their fraudulent activities.

The police are continuing their investigation and expect to uncover more individuals involved in this scam, indicating that further arrests are imminent.

This operation is part of a broader initiative to combat fraudulent activities in the region, emphasizing the need for public vigilance against scams targeting job seekers. Authorities are urging individuals to exercise caution when responding to job advertisements, especially those that require upfront payments.
