Assam Police Busts Online Trading Scam, Seizes Gold and Cash in Makum Pathar Raid
Guwahati: In a major crackdown on an ongoing online trading scam in Assam, the Guwahati Crime Branch, in collaboration with Geeta Nagar and Margherita Police, arrested Rishiraj Gogoi during a raid at a house in *Makum Pathar.
The operation led to the seizure of substantial assets, including gold biscuits and ornaments, several iPhones, and approximately Rs 30 lakh in cash. In addition to these valuables, police also confiscated incriminating documents, hinting at a larger web of fraudulent trading activities.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, both the authorities and the arrested individual have refrained from making any public statements regarding the raid or the specifics of the ongoing scam.
In a tense moment following the arrest, Priyanshu Gogoi, the son of the house owner, attempted to prevent journalists from covering the story.
Eyewitnesses reported that Priyanshu threatened to damage cameras and mobile phones, creating a chaotic scene. However, the situation was resolved peacefully after Priyanshu issued an apology to the journalists involved.
The authorities are continuing to investigate the full scope of the online trading scam, with further updates expected in the coming days.
