Guwahati: Assam Police arrested a police constable on charges of extortion on Sunday.
The arrested cop has been identified as Majibar Rahman was working as a constable in Bongaigaon police station.
According to reports, Rahman was detained after a complainant filed a FIR alleging that Rahman had attempted extortion in exchange for providing the complainant with a police incident report.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered to vide Bongaigaon Ps Case No 305/22 under section 163/384/511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and prime accused UBC/166 Majibar Rahman s/o Lt. Ahezuddin of the village- Tengnamari Ward No 4, PS- Abhayapuri.
Rahman has already been taken into custody by the court.
