Guwahati: An Assam Police constable has been arrested for allegedly killing his pregnant wife with his service revolver in Dibrugarh district of Assam on Sunday midnight.
The constable has been identified as Biki Chetia who is a resident of Sivsagar.
The incident took place at around 1:30 am in his quarter at the police campus near the Sadar Police station.
Biki reportedly killed his wife identified as Jayshree Chetia due to a family dispute.
She succumbed to her injuries at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.
Reports further claimed that they got married four years back and she was four-month pregnant.
Following the incident, the accused has been arrested by the Dibrugarh Police.
As per police, Chetia was drunk when the incident occurred. His arm was also seized and he was engaged as a security of a member of foreigners’ tribunal.
It needs to be mentioned that the police are currently interrogating Biki and further investigation into the matter is underway.
