Assam Police Crack Down on Illegal Lenders, Apprehend Nine Individuals in Bongaigaon District

Guwahati, 16th February: In a proactive move to combat illegal lending practices, police in Assam have intensified their crackdown on unlicensed lenders, resulting in the apprehension of nine individuals across the Bongaigaon district.

The operation, targeting suspected illegal lenders, was conducted in various locations including Abhayapuri, Jogighopa, and the district headquarters of Bongaigaon. Reports indicate a coordinated effort by the Bongaigaon Sadar police, leading to the arrest of four individuals from Bongaigaon, three from Jogighopa, and two from Abhayapuri.

Among those detained were individuals identified as Rafiqul Islam, Yesadikul Islam, Ramzan Ali, and Rakibul Islam from Bongaigaon Sadar. Additionally, Mukibur Rahman of Chalantapara, along with Tahar Ali and Mostaq Ali of Balapara, were captured in Jogighopa. In Abhayapuri, Pradyut Kalita and Azhar Ali of Number Para were taken into custody.

During the raids, police seized several incriminating documents from the suspects, further strengthening the ongoing investigation into illegal lending activities in the region.
