Assam Police Crack Down on Mobile Theft Ring; 18 Stolen Phones Recovered, Two Arrested
Guwahati, 26th July: The Assam police have intensified their operation against mobile thieves, who have been causing trouble in various localities. In a recent incident that happened with Law and Order DIG Vivek Raj Singh’s cell phone being stolen prompted the police to take decisive action against the mobile theft ring.
On Tuesday night, the Crime Branch of the Assam police, in collaboration with Darrang police, conducted a successful operation that led to the busting of a mobile theft ring near Bura Police outpost Chowki in Darrang district.
During the operation, the police seized a total of 18 stolen mobile phones and apprehended one individual allegedly connected to the thefts.
Upon interrogation, the arrested individual, identified as Ubedul Islam, provided crucial information, implicating another individual residing in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area as an accomplice in the racket.
Acting swiftly, a team of Hatigaon police was deployed to the location and managed to apprehend the second suspect, identified as Sahil Hussain, originally from Barpeta.
Currently, both accused individuals are in custody at Hatigaon police station, awaiting further legal proceedings.
