Assam Police Crackdown on Illegal Activities: Arrests Made in Arms and Narcotics Trafficking Cases
Guwahati, 11th May: The Assam Police on May 11 launched a targeted operation near a railway bridge falling under the jurisdiction of the Khatkhati police station. Led by Bokajan subdivisional police officer Rustamraj Brahma, the police intercepted a vehicle suspected of involvement in illegal arms and narcotics trafficking near the Assam-Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong district. Acting on a tip-off, the police seized a 9 mm pistol and a loaded magazine containing 43 live rounds of ammunition.
The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals who were identified as Thonga Wangcha, Alto Chisabi, Hekhio Jimomi, Khukivi Aye, and Chattar Ali. These arrests highlight the Assam Police’s proactive stance in combating illicit activities and ensuring public safety along the state’s borders.
In a separate incident, the Ruphihat police conducted successful anti-drug operations, leading to the apprehension of two traffickers, Rashidul Haque and Billal Uddin, in separate raids conducted at Kochgaon and Tamulitop. During these operations, law enforcement officers seized a significant quantity of narcotics from the suspects, indicating their involvement in drug trafficking activities. The seizure included a box packed with illicit substances, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the potential impact on the local community.
