Assam: Police Deny Alleged Firing at Residence of Senior ULFA(I) Leader

Guwahati, 27th December: On December 27, reports emerged of alleged police firing at the residence of a senior member of the banned militant organization United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) in Sadiya, located in the Tinsukia district of Assam.

According to a relative of senior ULFA-I cadre Aiseng Axom, a team from the Sadiya police arrived at their residence and discharged blank rounds while vandalizing his car. Despite asserting no affiliations with his brother, who is associated with ULFA, the Sadiya police reportedly engaged in blank firing at his residence, as per the ULFA-I cadre’s relative.

Contrary to these claims, local police have denied any such actions. Additionally, sources suggest that the insurgent group ULFA(I) has been asserting its version of events related to the incident.

This is a developing story. Further details awaited.
