Guwahati: A husband-wife duo has been arrested by Assam Police for physically assaulting a minor girl working as a domestic servant in Golaghat district on Friday.
The arrested couple has been identified as Nirupam Das and Pinky Saikia, from Moran in Dibrugarh district.
As per reports, the victim Junali Muda, had filed a complaint in Moranhat Police station on Thursday. She was working as a domestic servant in the couple’s house.
Reportedly, Junali stated that she was undergoing many atrocities since the last four months.
The duo who had been escalating since the complaint was filed against them was captured by the Golaghat Police on Friday night after search operations at Chandan Nagar were launched based on top-secret information.
However, Pinky Saikia has refuted all accusations and called the affair a conspiracy.
Pinky Saikia works for the Demow Sericulture division, while Nirupam Das represents the Sonari Tea Board.
The couple have been taken to the Moranhat Police for additional inquiry.
