Assam Police Detains 12 Bangladeshi Nationals Near Indo-Bangladesh Border
Guwahati, 2nd October: Assam Police detained twelve Bangladeshi nationals in the Hatshingimari area near the Indo-Bangladesh border fencing on the night of October 1. Acting on a specific intelligence input, the police apprehended the individuals in South Salmara Mankachar.
According to sources, the detained Bangladeshi nationals reportedly entered India through Meghalaya’s Dawki about two to three months ago. They had fraudulently obtained Aadhar cards to falsely claim Indian citizenship. On Tuesday, they were traveling in a tempo from Meghalaya towards Hatshingimari when they were intercepted.
The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Zakaria Jafri Borjahan and Samsul Haque Bepari from Kharuabandha police station, under the guidance of the DySP. The suspects were detained in the Fulerchar char area of South Salmara Mankachar.
The detainees are currently being interrogated at Kharuabandha police station to gather further information. After the initial questioning, they were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Sishumari border area for further investigation.
