Assam Police Dismantles KPLA After Surrender of Members
Guwahati, August 19 – The Karbi Anglong district police have successfully dismantled the recently formed insurgent group KPLA following the surrender of three of its members. The surrender marks a significant setback for the organization, which had been attempting to establish a presence in the region since July 2024.
Assam Director General of Police GP Singh announced the development on social media, revealing that the three surrendered cadres handed over three 0.32 pistols and two rounds of live ammunition to the Karbi Anglong police.
The KPLA had targeted the areas of Langlokso, Nihanglangso, and Borpung for extortion activities. However, their operations were swiftly curtailed by law enforcement efforts, leading to the group’s rapid neutralization. The police continue to investigate and monitor the situation to prevent further threats.
