Assam Police in Mumbai to Probe “India’s Got Latent” Case
Guwahati: A team of Assam Police has travelled to Mumbai to investigate a case related to “India’s Got Latent,” a popular online show.
The Guwahati Crime Branch previously registered an FIR against several prominent YouTubers and social media influencers, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others.
These individuals are accused of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussions during their appearances on the show. Senior Assam Police officials confirmed the development.
The investigation comes amidst increased scrutiny of online content, with authorities taking a stricter stance against inappropriate material.
Further actions will be determined based on the findings of the Assam Police team in Mumbai.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced criminal charges against five prominent YouTubers and social media influencers on February 10 for their involvement in “India’s Got Latent.”
The Guwahati Crime Branch filed cases against Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina under various sections of the BNS 2023, IT Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women Act.
This legal action follows public outrage over inappropriate remarks made during the show, particularly an offensive question posed by Ranveer Allahbadia to a contestant regarding their parents.
