Assam Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Activities, Major Seizures Reported
Assam: In a targeted operation, authorities in Assam intercepted a truck at Sriguri under the Badarpur Police Station jurisdiction, seizing 105 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) destined for Mizoram.
The operation, conducted on specific intelligence inputs, is part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal transportation of alcohol. Investigations are underway to trace the origin and recipients of the consignment.
In a separate operation on December 2, Cachar Police made a significant breakthrough in the fight against drugs. Acting on credible intelligence, officers in Silchar intercepted two vehicles, arresting one individual and seizing 1,20,000 Yaba tablets valued at ₹36 crore. The contraband was packed in 12 packets and intended for further distribution.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the Assam Police for their dedication to the #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign. Sharing the update on X, he commended the officers’ vigilance and commitment in tackling drug trafficking.
These operations highlight the Assam Police’s resolute approach to eliminating illegal activities, safeguarding communities, and upholding law and order in the region.
