Assam Police Intercept Drug Trafficking Operation, Seize 416 Grams of Heroin
Assam: In a successful operation, the Assam Police intercepted a narcotics consignment being transported from Dimapur to Bijni, leading to the apprehension of four individuals allegedly involved in a drug trafficking racket.
The operation was carried out based on intelligence received about heroin being transported by peddlers from Lower Assam.
A checkpoint was set up near the Hajo Chowk flyover to intercept the vehicle, a white Bolero (Registration No. AS 01 FZ 7976). Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects diverted their route and parked the vehicle within the premises of Hotel Chirom Palace in Paltan Bazar to evade detection.
Following a search operation, the police apprehended the four suspects—Safiur Islam, Nur Alam, Sanowar Rahman, and Sanowar Hussain—all residents of Bijni. They were found in Rooms 309 and 207 of the hotel.
A thorough search of the Bolero led to the discovery of 32 soap boxes containing heroin, weighing a total of 416 grams. The narcotics consignment was seized, and the suspects were taken into custody.
Authorities have launched further investigations to trace the larger network involved in this drug trafficking operation, aiming to dismantle the entire racket.
