Assam Police Issue Advisory for Congress’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra
Guwahati, 22nd January: In response to the Congress-organized Nyay Yatra, Assam Police issued an advisory emphasizing the prohibition of unscheduled stoppages during the event. The directive aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra and maintain law and order in the region. The advisory includes guidelines for organizers, participants, and security personnel involved in the event.
The key points of the advisory are:
- Organizers are advised to adhere to the resolutions of the Assam State Level (ASL) since the Z+ category ASL Protectee is part of the event.
- Unscheduled stoppages should be avoided to facilitate a continuous flow of the yatra.
- The ASL Protectee may be advised not to leave the vehicle without advance intimation to the local administration and police.
- Other participants are also advised not to expose the Protectee through unscheduled stoppages.
- One IGP of Assam Police is supervising the arrangements, and an SP-rank officer along with sufficient force is traveling with the convoy, in addition to route deployment.
- Participants are advised not to physically counter localized political protests and leave such matters to the deployed and/or accompanying police contingent.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered an inquiry into the alleged attack on the car of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh in the state’s Sonitpur district. The CM directed Assam Police DGP GP Singh to register a case and investigate the allegations made by Jairam Ramesh, who claimed that his vehicle was attacked by BJP workers during the Nyay Yatra in Jamugurihat.
