Assam Police Jawan Arrested for Fuel Theft in Chirang District

Guwahati: A shocking case of fuel theft has come to light in Dhaligaon, under Kajalgaon Police Station in Chirang district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Kajalgaon Police Station in-charge Ritul Moni Das raided the garage of Robin Gayari, where they caught four individuals red-handed while siphoning fuel from an oil tanker.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Robin Gayari, Bikram Das, Tanmoy Nath, and Nikunjan Nath. What makes this case even more serious is that Robin Gayari is a serving jawan of the Assam Police, posted at the Foreigners’ Tribunal Identification Branch in Bongaigaon.

Further investigations have revealed that Robin Gayari owns substantial assets, raising suspicions about his involvement in organized fuel theft. The seized tanker was supposed to transport fuel from Bongaigaon Refinery to Guwahati, but Gayari allegedly used his influence to divert it to his garage, where he broke the refinery’s digital lock to steal fuel.

The Kajalgaon Police have launched a thorough investigation into the case, and further developments are expected.
