Assam Police Jawan Detained by Locals in Morigaon Over Alleged Affair, Villagers Clash with Police

Morigaon — In a dramatic incident in Manipur village, located under Bhurbandha Tehsil in Assam’s Morigaon district, a police jawan was apprehended by locals on Monday over allegations of an illicit affair.

The accused, Ushar Ali, a Naik (AB) in the Assam Police, faced accusations of engaging in an extra-marital relationship, sparking tensions in the village.

The situation escalated when a team from the Morigaon Sadar police station arrived to handle the matter.

Villagers, who had detained Ali, reacted with hostility and reportedly attacked the police officers on the scene.

Speaking to the media about the incident, Ali denied the allegations, stating, “I am posted at the police reserve and came here to drop a patient along with an e-rickshaw driver.” Despite his explanation, tensions remained high as locals continued to accuse him of misconduct.

Following the altercation, the police detained a woman from the location for questioning.

Authorities have yet to release additional information as an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Further details are expected as the case develops.
