Guwahati: In a tragic incident, an Assam Police jawan was killed in a hit-and-run accident that took in Cachar district of Assam on Wednesday night.
The accident occurred at Silchar of the district.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kartik Nath.
As per reports, Nath was a jawan of Assam Police Task Force (APTF). He was posted along the Assam-Mizoram border BoP.
Reportedly, Das was hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw while he was on his way to home from his camp, severely wounding him.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
However, the auto-rickshaw managed to flee from the scene before being apprehended.
Meanwhile, a search operation has been launched by the police to trace the autorickshaw that was involved in the collision.
