Assam Police Make Breakthrough in Illegal Arms Trade Case

Guwahati, 8th May: In a significant move to combat illegal arms trade within the state, Assam Police, in collaboration with security forces, apprehended Dhan Bora, a former member of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), on suspicion of arms trafficking.

The arrest took place in Doomdooma, a locality within the Tinsukia district, following a late-night search operation initiated at the Doomdooma bridge based on actionable intelligence. Subsequently, the joint team tracked down Bora to his residence in Kordoiguri Borgorah, Doomdooma, where he was apprehended.

During the raid, incriminating evidence was seized from Bora, including an American pistol and 12 rounds of live ammunition, underscoring the potential threat posed by these illegal weapons.

Authorities view Dhan Bora’s arrest as a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat the unlawful trade of firearms and ammunition within Assam, demonstrating the state police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security.
