Guwahati: The Sivasagar police busted a honey trapping racket on Wednesday and arrested two persons in connection to it.
The duo identified as Dipankar Das and Joydeep Das.
According to reports, the accused individuals were apprehended on suspicion of seducing a businessman and then blackmailing him for money.
The duo had previously defrauded the businessman of Rs 4 lakh.
The duo sought money from the businessman once more, but this time the latter filed a police report, and the arrests were made.
As per the police officials, the mastermind of the scheme is still at large and raids are being conducted in Dergaon to apprehend him.
Several additional people participating in the racket, including a lady, are said to have gotten away after learning about the police operations.
Reportedly, some of them have been identified as Ashik, Sabina Begum Sariful Ali, Diganta Das and Rubul Ali.
However, further investigation is underway.
