Assam Police Nabs Two, Seizes ₹3 Crore Illegal Drugs Haul in Karbi Anglong
Guwahati, Assam (October 6, 2024): The Assam Police have seized illegal drugs valued at ₹3 crore during a covert operation in the Karbi Anglong district, apprehending two individuals linked to the trafficking. Acting on credible intelligence, the police confiscated 1.5 kg of illegal narcotics, continuing their ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace in the state.
The successful operation was acknowledged by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who took to the microblogging platform X to commend the Karbi Anglong police. “In a covert operation based on credible intelligence, @karbianglongpol apprehended two individuals today and seized 1.5 kg of illegal drugs valued at ₹3 crores. Kudos to @assampolice for their relentless efforts in combating the drug menace,” the Chief Minister stated.
This latest bust is part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking in Assam. Earlier in the week, two separate raids in Karimganj led to additional significant drug seizures. In Mubarakpur, the Border Security Force (BSF) intelligence department, in collaboration with local law enforcement, arrested a trafficker and confiscated illegal substances worth several crore rupees.
The Assam government’s intensified efforts to tackle the drug crisis have led to numerous successful operations, and the police continue to remain vigilant in their mission to rid the state of illegal drugs.
