Guwahati: A jawan of the Assam Police shot himself to death in a terrible occurrence.
The incident took place in Assam’s Bongaigaon district near Abhayapuri.
The 57-year-old dead was a jawan for the 8th Assam Police Battalion. His name was Chittaranjan Choudhury.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 3:30 am on Sunday.
Reportedly, Choudhury had a serious illness and had been receiving treatment for it for a long period.
The jawan used his carbine to shoot himself in the chest.
The entire community has been in mourning since the jawan’s passing.
