Assam: Police open fire at youth over suspicion of being ULFA-I linkman in Sivasagar

Guwahati, 24th December: In another shooting incident on December 24 in Assam’s Sivasagar, a young individual sustained bullet injuries as a result of gunfire by the Assam Police.

The incident took place in Geleki of the district.

The injured party, identified as Pallabjyoti Gogoi, has been referred to Assam Medical College and Hospital for necessary medical attention, specifically for the bullet injuries sustained on his legs.

This occurrence follows closely on the heels of a separate incident in Sadiya, Tinsukia, where police firing on December 24 resulted in three youths being injured.

The suspicion was that they were attempting to join the banned militant outfit ULFA-I. The three individuals, who sustained bullet injuries on their legs, have been transferred to Dibrugarh Medical College for more advanced treatment.
