Assam Police Prepares for Law and Order: DGP Emphasizes Proactive Measures
Guwahati, 13th March: Amid discussions surrounding the preparedness of Assam Police to uphold law and order, Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh addressed concerns by emphasizing proactive measures undertaken by the force.
DGP Singh highlighted the fundamental principle guiding law enforcement, stating that deploying a larger, well-prepared force diminishes the need for forceful interventions. Factors such as past incidents, protest leaders’ influence, and available intelligence shape the deployment strategy, he explained.
Singh underscored Guwahati’s historical context, citing past episodes of violence, including riots and bomb blasts, which have influenced the state’s approach to law and order.
Despite challenges, proactive planning has kept street violence at bay for several years, he noted. As the head of Assam Police, Singh urged residents to seek peaceful resolutions to issues, emphasizing the force’s commitment to maintaining peace and citizen safety.
Taking office in January 2023, DGP Singh assumed responsibility for every policeman’s actions, ensuring adherence to rules and procedures. He called upon Assam’s residents to cooperate with police efforts, acknowledging that minimal disruptions may occur but are crucial for ensuring public safety. Assam Police remains dedicated to serving and safeguarding the well-being of its citizens, Singh affirmed.
